Whiskey Creek Group Picnic Area is located on the northeastern shore of Whiskeytown Lake in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, just 14 miles west of Redding, California and three hours north of Sacramento. The lake offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities for visitors year-round, including kayaking, sailing, fishing, swimming and water skiing. Park hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Drinking water and electricity are not provided.
Wildlife getting into visitor’s things day and night has been a big problem for people and animals alike. But visitors have been working to help. Whether this is your first visit or your 20th, take these easy actions to ensure a clean site to have a clear conscience and enjoy your stay!
Site G01 is located adjacent to the beach and next to the parking area; Sites G02 and G03 are located up the hill. All groups with reservations must share the beach area. All vehicles are required to display a park use pass. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited. Pets are not allowed. Gate to area should be open on your arrival. Call 530-242-3431 if gate has not been opened. Personal watercraft is prohibited on Whiskeytown Lake. Area lacks shade and temperature regularly climbs over 100 degrees in the summer; portable shade structures are recommended. The Whiskey Creek Launch Ramp is located 1.6 miles from the Group Picnic Area. Boats may be launched from there and moored at the Group Picnic Area. Boats are available for rent at Oak Bottom Marina, located 5.5 miles from the Group Picnic Area. Call (530) 359-2671.
