About

Sunset Campground is situated on the shores of Union Valley Reservoir, among the towering cedar and ponderosa pines of Eldorado National Forest. Aptly named, the campground is a fantastic destination for colorful sunset views over the lake. All water activities are popular here, but it’s also fun to bring a bike and explore the neighboring bike trail. Eldorado includes the famed gold mining territory of the 1800s. Remnants of the days of the California Gold Rush can be found all around the region. Bears frequent the area; precautions must be made to keep food away from camp site. There are no bear boxes in this area. Fire restrictions may be enforced; call (530) 644-6048 for local information and conditions. There are no electric site hook-ups at this facility This facility has first-come, first-served sites. There is a daily fee for pets. Limit one vehicle per campsite; a fee will be charged for additional vehicles.

Don’t Move Firewood: Protect California’s forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
