About

Sly Guard Cabin is near Sly Park Reservoir and is a great choice for families with kids. The cabin was constructed in the early 1940s by the Forest Service as living quarters for Sly Park Rangers on guard in the forest. Modern conveniences like a phone, hot water, full bath, TV and DVD player, allow campers to balance the luxuries of home with the forested great outdoors. The cabin is less remote than other cabins in Eldorado National Forest. It is close to many attractions like Jenkinson Lake, Apple Hill and the historic mining towns of Coloma and Placerville. Many tempting wineries are also in the region. Contact the Placerville Ranger District prior to arrival for permit info, directions to cabin and the door sliding key storage combination; call (530) 644-2324 during regular business hours. No RV hookups or dump stations available. Vehicles must park in the gravel areas, not on vegetation. Lock the building and gate when leaving it unattended. Pets are not allowed in the cabin; please clean up after outdoor pets. Smoking is not allowed in the cabin. This is a”pack it in, pack it out” facility; please bring garbage bags. Off-Road vehicles cannot be unloaded at the cabin grounds. Fire restrictions may be in effect. No open flames, candles, backpacking stoves or Coleman stoves inside cabin. Please clean cabin and grounds before leaving.
