About
Rock Creek Lake is located near Bishop, Tom’s Place and Mammoth Lakes, California, in Inyo National Forest. This high-elevation facility provides both RV and tent-only sites on the banks of scenic Rock Creek Lake in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, a perfect location for limitless mountain recreation opportunities. Fishing, camping, hiking and horseback riding at the nearby pack station are popular. This is not the Rock Creek close to Fresno and Yosemite in nearby Sierra National Forest; the facilities are often confused. Rock Creek Lake is a Walk-in, first-come-first-serve, campground. Maximum of 2 vehicles or 1 RV per site; trailer counts as vehicle. This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations. Fires permitted only in fireplaces provided. Be bear aware; keep all food out of site in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating; always keep a clean camp and do not feed any wild animals. Hiking within the Inyo Wilderness requires a special permit for both day and overnight stays. These permits are managed through a limited allocation system.
