From its thunderous ocean breakers crashing against rocky headlands and expansive sand beaches to its open grasslands, brushy hillsides and forested ridges, Point Reyes offers visitors over 1000 species of plants and animals to discover. Bordered by the San Andreas Fault, home to several cultures over thousands of years, the Seashore preserves a tapestry of stories and interactions of people. Point Reyes awaits your exploration. Five campgrounds are available for reservations – four hike-in/bike-in campgrounds and one boat-in campground. Overnight camping with horses and pack animals (except llamas) is permitted only in the designated areas of the Coast, Wildcat or Sky Camps. Llamas are allowed to overnight camp in the designated areas at Wildcat and Sky Camps. Horses and pack animals are not permitted overnight at Glen Camp. You must pick up a camping permit for your site assignment as well as a parking permit for each vehicle associated with your camping permit. Individuals may not book multiple sites in any one campground on the same night. Groups of more than 6 may not purchase multiple sites in one campground for one night. Area outfitters can provide kayak rentals. Boat rentals/transportation is not provided by the park. No pets, campfires, or weapons are allowed in the campgrounds. Metal food storage lockers are provided at the hike-in/bike-in sites – skunks and raccoons are aggressive. Weather is extremely changeable, be prepared to leave sunny, warm temperatures for foggy, cool weather with afternoon winds in the summer. No one under 18 years of age may camp without an adult (18 years or older) present Bear Valley Visitor Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST, Monday through Thursday. On Friday, the Visitor Center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 :00 p.m.; on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for permit pick ups.
