Lake George is located in the Inyo National Forest in California’s Eastern Sierras. It is one of 11 lakes in the Mammoth Lakes region, offering recreational activities like fishing, viewing waterfalls, hiking and backpacking. Swimming is not allowed on Lake George; visitors are prohibited from making body contact with the water. Be bear aware; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating; always keep a clean camp and do not feed wild animals. This facility is operated by Inyo Recreation, a Division of California Land Management. Your comments are appreciated; comment forms are available from campground hosts or on our website. Hiking within the Inyo Wilderness requires a special permit for overnight stays. These permits are managed through a limited allocation system.
