Dry Creek Group Campground is located on the southwest shores of Whiskeytown Lake in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, just 14 miles west of Redding, California and three hours north of Sacramento. Whiskeytown Lake offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities for visitors year-round, including kayaking, sailing, fishing, swimming and water skiing. All vehicles parked at the group areas must display a park use pass. Portable showers are prohibited; Cold outdoor showers are available at Brandy Creek Beach; Hot showers available at Oak Bottom Campground for a fee. Gate to area will be open upon your arrival. Leave gate open and unlocked. Bring your own firewood. Black bears frequent the area: All food, beverage containers, toiletries, cooking and eating utensils must be stored inside a bear-proof storage locker or out of sight in your vehicle unless they are in immediate use Generators are not allowed. Personal watercraft prohibited. For information on summer ranger-guided activities such as kayak tours, gold panning and the Junior Ranger program, call the Visitor Center at (530) 246-1225. Tent camping only. Self-contained units may use nearby Brandy Creek RV campground for an additional fee. Check-in and check-out times are 12 noon. Check the park website or stop in at the visitor center for a complete list of all regulations.
