About

Detroit Lake State Park campground is located on the north shore of a forest-ringed canyon reservoir in the Cascade Mountains. The nine-mile-long lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, swimming and other water sports. Sightseers will enjoy views of snow-capped Mt. Jefferson in the distance as well as other distinctive scenery and wildlife. The campground has horseshoe pits, a basketball court, a volleyball area, and a playground. There are two courtesy boat ramps, two reservable boat moorages, 5 designated swim areas and an accessible fishing dock. A 2.7 mile hiking trail runs the perimeter of the campground. Interpretive activities and Junior Ranger programs are offered most days from June through September. The Visitor Center/Gift Shop offers park and area information along with park souvenirs, apparel, ice, soft drinks, firewood and other merchandise that can be purchased. Mongold Day-Use Area is located 2 miles west of the overnight campground. Facilities include boat launches, picnic areas and restrooms. Open year-round. MAKE SURE YOUR SITE MEETS YOUR CAMPING NEEDS Before reserving, please become familiar with the particulars of your chosen site, including the size of the tent pad area and the type of equipment that you may bring to the park. Site details and tent pad sizes can be viewed online by clicking on the site name. Detroit Lake SRA campground has a strict vehicle policy, allowing a MAXIMUM of 2 vehicles per campsite. Only one vehicle is included with standard camp fees. A second vehicle kept at a campsite (or alternate parking area) is subject to a nightly Extra Vehicle fee, paid upon arrival at the park. The nightly Extra Vehicle fee is $7.00. There is no dump station at the park. The nearest dump station is 18 miles west. Generators are not allowed at Detroit Lake SRA. Be advised that the Detroit Lake level changes with the seasons. Due to winter lake levels, there is no accessible boat ramp or moorage available at the campground during the late fall and winter season.
