This is The Deschutes River Rec. Area, which is on the Columbia River, not the Deschutes campground at The Cove Palisades State Park near Madras. Welcome to Deschutes State Recreation Area. We have 32 miles of bike trails and 7.5 miles of hiking trails. All sites allow Tents or RVs (with a 24 foot combined vehicle length restriction in T-Loop). A-Loop electric sites have 50/30/20 amp connections available. Restroom building closed from Nov. 1 through March 15. Port-a-potty available. There is no water available from Nov 1 to March 15. MAKE SURE YOUR SITE MEETS YOUR CAMPING NEEDS Before reserving, please become familiar with the particulars of your chosen site, including the size of the tent pad area and the type of equipment that you may bring to the park. Site details and tent pad sizes can be viewed online by clicking on the site name. Only one vehicle is included with standard camp fees. A second vehicle kept at a campsite (or alternate parking area) is subject to a nightly Extra Vehicle fee. Maximum of 2 vehicles per campsite, including your camping unit. The nightly Extra Vehicle fee is currently $7.00. There is no water available from Nov 1 to mid March, weather permitting. Seasonal closures:A loop is first-come, first served from November 1 – mid-April. B Loop closed November through April. Group Camps and T loop (primitive sites) closed November through February. Restroom building closed from Nov. 1 through mid March. Port-a-potty available. Please note: The campground is located near railroad tracks. Trains use their horn at all hours. Horses, even in a trailer, are not allowed in the overnight campground. Sherman County Fire Ban Campfires are banned June 1 through September 30. Propane, white gas and briquettes are allowed. A pass is needed to boat the Deschutes River. During summer months, motorboats are prohibited at certain times. Please contact the Oregon State Parks Information Center at 1-800-551-6949 for details.
