To begin your commercial carrier permit reservation, select the commercial sign-In link to the right. Commercial carriers must make a parking reservation through Recreation.gov before entering Muir Woods National Monument. Commercial parking reservations are only available to commercial operators who hold a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) from Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Parking at Muir Woods is limited and often fills during peak times. Starting in spring 2018, reservations will be required for all commercial carriers arriving to Muir Woods in order to improve the overall visitor experience and enhance protection of the park. Visitors traveling in the commercial carriers, on foot, or bicycle will not require a reservation. For privately owned vehicle (POV) reservations at Muir Woods National Monument, please visit www.GoMuirWoods.com Muir Woods National Monument is situated on Mount Tamalpais near the Pacific coast and San Francisco. It is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and protects 554 acres of old growth coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests, one of a few such stands remaining in the San Francisco Bay Area. The park is named for naturalist John Muir, an early advocate for preservation of wilderness in the United States who was instrumental in protecting Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks and other wilderness areas in the Sierra Nevada. Commercial Carrier Parking reservations are for Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) holders only. Visit www.nps.gov/goga/learn/management/cua.htm for more information. Commercial vehicles are only permitted to park in the commercial parking area located in the main parking lot closest to the plaza. All parking spaces are numbered and assigned. Please refer to your reservation confirmation before entering. There is no cellular service at Muir Woods. CUA holders should prepare their reservation documentation well in advance of their arrival to the Monument. Commercial vehicles are not permitted to enter the Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) parking areas. Only two (2) vehicles from the same company are permitted to enter Muir Woods National Monument at any given time. Each CUA holder may make a maximum of six (6) parking reservations per day. Only vehicles 35 feet in length or under are permitted to enter Muir Woods National Monument due to vehicle restrictions created by Marin County. Each parking space also has length restrictions due to the limited space in the Main Lot. You are responsible for reserving a parking space that meets the needs of your vehicle/fleet. Muir Woods National Monument entrance fees are not included in the CUA Permit or parking fee. Tour operators, tour guides, and bus drivers may accompany visitors as far as the Visitor Center. Commercial services and guided hikes are not allowed in Muir Woods. Violators are subject to citation. High winds and other emergency situations may close the Monument. Any violation of federal law, the Superintendent’s Compendium, regulations and/or conditions may result in a citation of the CUA Holder and/or its agent or, in the case of repeated violations, the suspension of the CUA.
