About

Chief Paulina Horse Camp is the only horse campground located in Newberry National Volcanic Monument in Deschutes National Forest. A favorite for horse enthusiasts, the campground provides visitors with access to 50,000+ acres of lakes, lava flows and spectacular geologic features. This is a no water facility so campers will need to bring their own supply. There is stock water only for horse consumption. Horses require certified weed-seed-free hay or feed Single site fees include 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle. Any additional vehicles are subject to an extra vehicle fee on-site, space permitting. Extra vehicle fees are 1/2 the single site price and must be paid by cash or check on-site. Many campsites are available for advanced reservation and several are available on-site on a first-come, first-served basis. This facility is pet friendly so long as animals are picked up after and kept on their leashes. Prevent the spread of invasive species by inspecting and cleaning packs, equipment and tires before using lake or trails. Don’t Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination.
