Eppie’s Great Race ®

Known as “The World’s Oldest Triathlon®”, “The Great Race”, the “No Swim” Triathlon is the largest paddling event in the United States! Sacramento-area restauranteur/ entrepreneur Eppie Johnson founded the event in 1974, holding it’s first triathlon on July 27, 1974 being the first “Modern Triathlon”. It has been held every year since and is a Sacramento-area summertime tradition for elite athletes, fitness enthusiasts and families. The race features a 5.82-mile run, a 12.5-mile bike and a 6.35-mile paddle held along the scenic American River Parkway in Rancho Cordova and Sacramento.

Rio Vista Bass Festival & Derby

Oldest fishing derby in the west! Target lengths are announced on Friday morning, cash prizes and raffles are awarded on Sunday for Striped Bass, Sturgeon and Salmon. Fishing must be in the California Delta waters only. Outdoor festival located on Front St. in Rio Vista, sitting on the Sacramento River. Bok Kai Festival

Old Sacramento’s Gold Rush Days

More than 200 tons of dirt paved the streets of Old Sacramento as this annual Labor Day Weekend festival “turned back the clock,” transforming Sacramento’s historic district into a scene straight out of the 1850s. Hundreds of costumed performers took on the roles of celebrities, personalities and just plain folks, bringing history to life while bluegrass pickers and old-timey Musicians performed on several stages, evoking the vivid tunes of the times.
