100+ Wineries!
BARREL TASTING - TWO WEEKENDS.....
March 2-4 and March 9-11, 2012
11:00 am - 4:00 pm each day
In California’s famous wine country over 100 wineries participate in this annual event. Wineries from Russian River, Dry Creek and Alexander Valley open their doors for two weekends in the largest wine tasting event in Sonoma County. Barrel tasting is not a food or themed event, its focus is on wine “futures.” Tasting wine out of the barrel gives attendees an opportunity to get a glimpse at how the wine will taste once fully aged. Many wineries offer the chance to purchase futures, sometimes the only opportunity to purchase rare and limited wines. Purchasers can come back to the winery when the wine is bottled, typically in 12-18 months, or have the bottles shipped to them. The event also allows for visitors to speak to winemakers and growers directly to get insight on the vintage they are tasting.
